The Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs at Western Illinois University is sponsoring the 22nd Annual Rural Community Economic Development Conference today and tomorrow at Peoria's Holiday Inn City Centre. This year’s theme is Rural Recovery in Illinois provides an opportunity for individuals to learn new strategies that have been successfully applied in other communities. Rock Island High School is looking for munchkins for their spring play production, The Wizard of OZ. Munchkin auditions are today at 2:30pm in the Rock Island High School Choir Room. Students who are in 3rd – 6th grade and about 5 feet tall are welcome to try out. Seeds of Peace co-founder Barbara Gottschalk will present a film and lecture Beyond Ideas of Wrong-Doing and Right-Doing at 7 p.m. in the Rogalski Center of St. Ambrose University. The event is free and open to the public.
