The Channel Cat Talk Investigate Arsenal Island History will begin at 9 a.m. at the Celebration Belle Landing in Moline. Pre-registration is required; call 563-322-2969.

Helen Reinold will speak on The Intellectual Origins of the Davenport Forty-Eighters at 5:30 p.m. at the German American Heritage Center in Davenport. For more information, call 563-322-8844.

Tomorrow thru Sunday, the Matherville Centennial Celebration will take place downtown, featuring music, a car show, kids' games, and more.  On Saturday, there will be a parade at 11 a.m. on Saturday, and also a 5K run/walk and kids' race.  Fireworks will take place at 9 p.m. on Sunday. The traveling exhibit The Fiery Trial: Iowa and the Civil War will be in Muscatine July 1 thru 4 on 4th Street north of the Muscatine County Court House.  Volunteers are needed to assist visitors. For further information, call 563-263-8895.

Over the next two weekends, the Genesius Guild will present the tragedy Ajax by Sophocles at 8 p.m. at Lincoln Park Classic Theater in Rock Island.
