Thru Saturday, the 21st annual Quad-Cities Senior Olympics will be held at various locations and will feature not only athletic events, but also literary, trivia, performing, and visual arts. For more information, call 309-786-1677.

First Lutheran Church in Rock Island and the American Scandinavian Association at Augustana College will hold a Midsummer celebration and Jenny Lind concert. Maypole decoration will begin at 5:30 p.m., the queen's procession at 6 p.m. and the concert featuring Rebecca Rasmussen at 7 p.m.

As part of Final Friday festivities, readings by the David R. Collins Writers' Conference faculty will begin at 7 p.m. at the Bucktown Center for the Arts in Davenport.  There will also be an art auction to benefit the Alzheimer's Association.  For more information, call 563-324-1410.

Late Night Cabaret

The Genesius Guild will present the comedy The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare on Saturday and Sunday at 8 p.m. at Lincoln Park Classic Theater in Rock Island.
