The Putnam Museum will celebrate the opening of Uwé Warúmi: The Trading Place at 10 a.m., a new discovery center designed to show the trade relationships between Iowa’s native peoples and Euro Americans.  Cheyenne Native American Larry Lockwood will present information on Plains traditions from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  For more information, call 563-324-1933.

The Davenport Public Library, in partnership with the Figge Art Museum, will begin offering Museum Passes for checkout beginning May 2.  Anyone with a library card can visit one of Davenport Public Library’s locations a check out a Museum Pass, which will give a family of four free admission into the Figge Art Museum for 1 week. The Midwest Writing Center is now accepting applications for the month-long Collins Poetry Residency that will take place in April 2012. The poets must be residents in one of the following counties: Henry, Mercer, or Rock Island in Illinois, or Clinton, Muscatine, or Scott in Iowa.
