The Contemporary Books Discussion Group will discuss Heather Gudenkauf's novel The Weight of Silence at 1 p.m. at the Bettendorf Library. For information, call 563-344-4179.

The children's musical featuring Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends will begin at 6 p.m. at the i wireless Center in Moline. Part of the proceeds will benefit the Genesis Health System NICU.  For tickets or more information, call 800-745-3000.

Rabbi Rachel Barenblat will give a talk, Midrash: Creativity Which Transforms, at 7 p.m. in Ferris Lounge in the Seymour Union of Knox College in Galesburg. The talk is free and open to the public.
