The Figge Art Museum will conduct a walking tour of downtown Davenport architecture at 10:30 a.m.  It will conclude at the museum with a discussion of the meaning of David Chipperfield's design for the Quad-Cities. For more information, call 563-326-7804, ext. 2045.

Professor Christopher Sutton will make a case for the importance of geography in the Ninth Annual John Hallwas Liberal Arts Lecture at 3 p.m. in Room 115 at WIU-Quad Cities and at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the University Union Grand Ballroom at WIU-Macomb.  The lecture is open to the public.

James Patten from the QC Kite Club will teach a beginner’s workshop on kite making for ages 6 to 11 starting at 4:00 p.m. at the Bettendorf Public Library.  A second beginning class will start at 4:30 p.m.  An advanced class will start at 5:00 p.m.  Registration is required for the advanced class.  For more information or to register, call 563-344-4175.

As part of Hometown Pride & Heritage, Roald Tweet will present The History of the Hennepin Canal at 6 p.m. at the Milan Community Center.  Also featured will be the entries to the Joel Brunsvold/Milan Photography Contest.  For more information, call 309-716-8144.

Rock Island music and arts venue Rozz-Tox will be hosting a unique poetry event, featuring the collaborative work of poets Erin M. Bertram and Ryan Collins at 8:00 p.m.  The event is open to all ages.  For more information, call 309-269-6569.

On Saturday, September 10, Timeless Truths: Stories from Little House on the Prairie will be held at the Moline Library at 10 a.m.  Dressed as Laura Ingalls Wilder, Marie Tschopp will read stories from the Little House series.  For information, call 309-524-2480.

On Sunday, Little Conductors Day will be held at the Quad City Botanical Center in Rock Island beginning at 1 p.m. Kids participate in train games and activities, meet railroad characters, hear locomotive stories, view the Botanical Center's garden sized railroad, and enjoy dining car snacks and Dinosaur Train activities from WQPT.  For information call Beth at 309-794-0991 ext. 30. 

Continuing through Sept. 17, the Augustana College Art Museum in Centennial Hall will display A Memorial Tribute to Jim Konrad, an exhibit of the artist's life work.  The gallery is open from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday thru Saturday.  For more information, call 309-794-7231.
