Showcase Cinemas 53 in Davenport will host a Live in HD broadcast of the Metropolitan Opera's Simon Boccanegra by Giuseppe Verdi at noon. It will be subtitled. Tickets are available at the door.

Branching Out: The Art of Wood family workshop will be offered at 1 p.m. at the Figge Art Museum. Lloyd Beckman, Joe Meirhaeghe, Randy Nagle, Jerry Sergeant, and Steve Sinner will demonstrate turning a variety of vessels. The Mississippi Valley Blues Society Education Committee welcomes Johnnie Billington for a Black History Month Blues in the Schools residency for the week of February 8-12. He will present workshops in numerous Quad-City area schools, as well as giving the following free public performances - on Wed., 7 p.m. at Mojo’s in the RME, on Thurs. Monmouth College will host four recurring events Feb. 9-11, starting with a “Journey Stories” film and concluding with a “Darwinpalooza” lecture.
