Dr. Peter Ochs, professor of modern Judaic studies at the University of Virginia will present Abrahamic Peace and Fellowship in the Belly of the Whale at 10:30 a.m. in Augustana’s Centennial Hall.

Augustana’s Mathematics & Computer Science Department will show the award-winning documentary Between the Folds at 2:30 p.m. in Olin 201. The film chronicles the stories of ten fine artists and intrepid theoretical scientists who have abandoned their careers to devote themselves to origami.

Historian Mary Jo Festle will give the Burkhardt Lecture in History, Lung Transplantation in the U.S.: The Historical, Personal, and Political at 4 p.m., in the Alumni Room of Knox College’s Old Main in Galesburg. The lecture is free and open to the public.

KidTV will meet every Thursday at 4:00 p.m., January through May, at the Davenport Fairmount St. Library. Kids will learn how to write, film, and have fun creating news. Shows will appear on the library’s YouTube channel and other media outlets. The program is free and registration is not required. For more information, call 563-888-3371.

Graduating high school seniors, parents and teachers are invited to an information session for the 2011 Brand Boeshaar Scholarship Program at 6 p.m. at the Figge Art Museum in Davenport. The program is open to students in eastern Iowa and western Illinois who wish to study fine arts, design, or art education. Ragene Gwin of St. Ambrose University will present Irish Dance and Culture at 6 p.m. at the Windmill Cultural Center in Fulton as part of the Fulton Celebrating Reagan's Roots: 1911-2011 series of events. For more information, call 815-589-4545.

The Tournees French Film Festival begins tonight at Augustana College and will continue over the next four Thursdays. Tonight’s entry is the 2006 film Avenue Montaigne which will be shown at 7 p.m. in the Hanson Hall of Science. Admission is free and all films are in French with English subtitles. Beginning Friday, Circa '21 Dinner Playhouse in Rock Island will present the musical revue All Shook Up. A preview show will be held tonight. For more information or tickets, call 309-786-7733, ext. 2.
